Quiapo Church isa ng Archdiocesan Shrine

Ganap nang Archdiocesan Shrine ngayon ang Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene – St John the Baptist Parish o Quiapo Church.

 Ito ay matapos aprubahan ni Manila Archimbishop Jose Cardinal Advincula ang petisyon ni Fr. Rufino Sescon Jr., ang parish rector na gawing shrine ang simbahan. “We hereby decree that the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene – St John the Baptist Parish (Quiapo Church), be conferred the title of the Archdiocesan Shrine of the Black Nazarene,” pahayag ni Advincula ayon sa ulat ng CBCP News. Inianunsyo ang bagong status ng Quiapo Church sa misa na pinangunahan ni  Fr. Reginald Malicdem, ang archdiocese’s vicar general. “But for us devotees, whether there is a formal declaration, or none is made, this church is a real shrine because here we feel the presence of God,” pahayag ni Malicdem. “In this place we experience the mercy, compassion, peace, and love of God for us,” dagdag ni Malicdem.
