Japan bank ready mag-ambag sa Maharlika fund, energy sector ng bansa

Interesado ang Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) na maglagak ng puhunan sa Maharlika Investment Fund (MIF) at energy development sa bansa. Inilabas ng Palasyo ng Malakanyang ang pahayag isang araw matapos makapasa sa Kongreso ang Maharlika Investment Fund. Ayon kay Presidential Communication Office Sec. Cheloy Garafil, ipinaabot ng kompanya ang interes na magkaroon ng energy tie-up nang mag-courtesy call kay Pangulong Marcos Jr. si  JBIC Chairman of the Board Tadashi Maeda. Nais rin raw malaman ng JBIC official ang pinakadetalye ng mga target na proyektong gagastusan ng Pilipinas sa pagkakaroon ng Maharlika Investment Fund. Ayon naman kay Pangulong  Marcos, ang mga ganitong investment ay kailangan ng bansa kaya ipinasa ang Maharlika Investment Fund. Ayon kay Maeda, interesado ang kanilang hanay sa  liquified natural gas (LNG) bilang traditional source of power sa Pilipinas at iba pang   energy sources gaya ng hydropower, solar, at wind. “We have the potential…between Japan and the Philippines to work together. For example, I already had a meeting with Aboitiz Chairman Sabin and I proposed to him to have an MOU… and to Metro Pacific, and also to San Miguel, ” pahayag ni Maeda. Ang JBIC ay isang  policy-based financial institution na pag-aari ng  gobyerno ng Japan. Una nang nagkaroon ng pagpupulong sina Pangulong Marcos at Maeda nang magkaroon ng official visit ang Punong Ehekutibo sa Japan noong Pebrero.
