DOJ humirit pa sa ‘not guilty decision’ kay de Lima

Pinababaligtad ng Department of Justice (DOJ) sa korte sa Muntinlupa City ang pagpapawalang-sala kay dating Senator Leila de Lima noong Mayo 12.

Sa inihain na motion for reconsideration na may petsang Mayo 27, hinamon ng panig ng prosekusyon ang pagbaligtad sa kanyang testimoniya ni dating  Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) officer-in-charge Rafael Marcos  Ragos.

Sa desisyon ng korte, nabigyan bigat ang pagbawi ni Ragos ng kanyang testimoniya upang mahatulan ng “not guilty” sina de Lima at dati niyang aide na si Ronnie Dayan.

Diin ng prosekusyon sa kanilang mosyon, hindi masasabing sapat ang pagbawi ni Ragos sa kanyang testimoniya sa kanyang mga naibunyag sa Senado, Kamara, media at panunumpa sa harap ng hukom.

“To set aside a testimony which was solemnly taken before a court of justice in an open and free trial and under conditions precisely sought to discourage and forestall falsehood simply because one of the witnesses who had given testimony later on changed his mind would simply make a mockery of our criminal justice system,” nakasaad sa mosyon ng DOJ.

Sa pagbaligtad ni Ragos sa kanyang testimoniya, sinabi nito na pinuwersa lamang siya ng dating administrasyon na idiin si de Lima sa illegal drug trading sa loob ng pambansang-piitan.
