US’ Pacific military outpost tumbok ng Super Typhoon Mawar
Dalawang dekada na ang nakalipas nang masalanta mapaminsalang bagyo ang Guam, na teritoryo ng US sa Pacific region at itinuturing na mahalagang military outpost.
Base sa pinakahuling ulat nh National Weather Service lumakas ang super typhoon Mawar bilang ‘Category 5’ taglay ang lakas ng hangin na umaabot sa 160 miles kada oras at bugso na 200 miles per hour.
“I am worried for the safety of our people. This is the first storm of this magnitude for 20 years,” ani Guam Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero.
Inaasahan na makakaranas ang Guam ng napakalakas na pag-ulan at maaring magresulta sa malawakang pagbaha.
Ipinag-utos na ng awtoridad ang paglilikas ng mga nasa mababang lugar, kasama na ang mga lugar na madalas na bahain.
“The triple threats of Super Typhoon Mawar are torrential rains that may result in landslides and flash flooding, catastrophic wind, and life-threatening storm surge,” ayon sa NWS.
Nabatid na may 21,700 US military personnel sa Guam, bukod pa sa kanilang pamilya.
Una nang nagdeklara ng “state of emergency” si US President Joe Biden sa Guam para sa agarang pagbibigay ng ayuda sa isla.
