Inaprubahan ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) ang electronic o internet voting para sa overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) sa national and local elections sa May 2025.
“We approved the policy direction and therefore we are now to prepare the roadmap for Electronic Voting for Overseas Filipinos,” ani Comelec Chairman George Garcia.
Layon aniya nito ay mas maraming Filipino, na nasa ibang bansa ang bumoto.
Paliwanag niya ito ay base sa Republic Act No. 10590 o ang Overseas Voting Act of 2013, na nagbigay awtoridad sa Comelec na magpatupad ng ibang naararapat na paraan, kasama na ang automated election system.
Alinsunod din aniya ito sa RA No. 9189 o ang Overseas Absentee Voting Act of 2003.
