5 Filipino kasama sa nawawala 39 sa paglubog ng Chinese vessel

Kabilang ang limang Filipino sa 39 nawawala matapos ang paglubog ng isang Chinese fishing vessel sa Indian Ocean.

Nawawala din ang 17 Chinese at 17 Indonesian na sakay ng Lu Peng Yuan Yu 028.

Ayon kay Philippine Coast Guard spokesman Commodore Armand Balilo, nagsasagawa na ng search and rescue operation ang mga awtoridad.

“The target are two life rafts allegedly carrying the crew. Rough weather condition prevailing in the area of search and rescue operation,” pahayag ni Balilo.

Kinumpirma ni Chinese Ambassador Huang Xilian ang insidente at aniya nagpadala na sila ng emergency response team kasabay ng paglulunsad ng international maritime search and rescue operations.

“By the directives of Chinese President Xi Jinping, China immediately activated the emergency response mechanism, verifying the situation, sending more rescue forces, coordinating international maritime search and rescue assistance, and making every effort to contact all relevant local parties and coordinate the search and rescue work,” ani Huang.
