P138.77 bilyong pondo para sa higher education programs, student subsidies inilabas ng DBM

Naglaan ang administrasyon ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. ng P138.77 bilyong pondo para sa higher education programs at iba pang subsidiya para sa mga estudyante.

Ayon kay Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman, pagtupad ito sa pangako ng Pangulo na bigyang halaga ang edukasyon ng mga batang Filipino.

Sabi ni Pangandaman, galing ang pondo sa 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA).

“This reflects the Administration’s commitment to empower our youth. President Bongbong Marcos himself said that education is the only legacy we can leave our children that will never go to waste. Indeed, education is our best investment for the nation,” pahayag ni Pangandaman.

“This is likewise in consonance with the promise of Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte to help the sector produce graduates that are employable,” dagdag ng kalihim.

Nabatid na sa naturang pondo, P107.04 bilyon ang ilalaan sa State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) habang ang  P31.73 bilyon ay ilalaan sa Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

Gagamitin ang pondo para sa Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Program (UAQTE) na may P45.80 bilyong budget.

Paglalaanan din ng pondo ang Student Financial Assistance Programs na may P1.52 bilyong budget kung saan 21,053 na estudyanteang makikinabang sa scholarships at grant-in-aid programs.

Nasa P500 milyon ang inilaan para sa Medical Scholarship and Return Service Program para sa mga medical students.

Nasa P167 milyon naman ang subsidiya para sa tuition fees ng mga medical students sa mga SUCs.
