Ligtas ang mga Filipino sa Taiwan.
Pahayag ito ni Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) Chairman and Resident Representative Silvestre Bello III sa kabila ng ulat na umiinit ang tensyon sa pagitan ng China at Taiwan.
Ayon kay Bello, binabantayan ng pamahalaan ang kapakanan ng mga Filipino sa Taiwan.
“So we would like to assure you, everyone. I’ll take this opportunity to inform you… in Taiwan everything is normal and, if in the remote possibility na magkaroon ng emergency situation, like for example earthquake, mga lindol o even war, preparado po ang Taiwan government not only in protecting their own people but even the Filipinos, especially our workers,” pahayag ni Bello.
Ayon kay Bello, tiniyak ng National Police Agency ng Taiwan na may sapat na proteksyon at seguridad ang mga Filipino roon.
“I met with the Director General together with the head of the Home Civilian Defense of Taiwan and they assured us na iyong ating mga kababayan ay protektado nila,” pahayag ni Bello.
MAyroon aniyang 89,000 shelters ang Taiwan na kayang i-accommodate ang higit pa sa total population nito.
“Ganoon kapreparado iyong ating mga kasama sa Taiwan and they really treasure our OFWs kasi sila, according to them, are the best in their manufacturing industry,” pahayag ni Bello.
Nasa 90 porsyento ng factories sa Taiwan ay pinangangasiwaan ng mga Filipino workers.
Sa ngayon, nasa 160,000 na Filipino ang nagtatrabaho sa Taiwan.
Karamihan sa mga manggagawa ay mga highly skilled teachers, farmers, at mga manggagawa sa hospitality industry.
“So, huwag po kayong mag-alala… everything is normal, our OFWs there are safe and there is no danger of what you call confrontation between China and Taiwan,” pahayag ni Bello.
