Hinaing ng Malaya Lolas pinatutugunan ni Pangulong Marcos
Inatasan ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. ang ibat ibang tanggapan ng pamahalaan na tugunan ang pangangailangan ng mga Malaya Lolas, isang grupo ng matatandaang kababaihan na nakaranas ng seksuwal na pang-aabuso mula sa kamay ng mga Japanese na sundalo noong panahon ng World War II.
Sabi ng Pangulo, gumagawa na ng kaukulang hakbang ang administrasyon kasunod ng United Nations Convention on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women’s (CEDAW) views sa kaso ng Malaya Lolas.
Ayon kasi sa UN Panel, bigo ang Pilipinas na bigyan ng reparation o bayad ang Malaya Lolas pati na ang social support na kailangan ng mga Filipina victims.
“I have instructed the relevant Government agencies to look into how we can appropriately address the concerns of the Malaya Lolas,” pahayag ng Pangulo.
“Government agencies concerned are formulating a comprehensive response to the CEDAW Committee and will submit this within the required period,” dagdag ng Pangulo.
Sabi ng Pangulo, isinusulong ng administrasyon ang women empowerment.
“We commit to undertaking measures and finding ways to help them live better lives as an expression of our continued deep solidarity with them and of our outmost respect,” pahayag ng Pangulo.
