Mga ahensiya ng edukasyon hiniling ni Gatchalian na pagtibayin ang SHS program

Hiniling ni Senator Sherwin Gatchalian sa  Department of Education (DepEd), Commission on Higher Education (CHED), at sa Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) na magtulungan sa pagpapabuti ng senior high school program. gayundin ang transisyon ng K – 12 graduates. Nabanggit ni Gatchalian ang plano niya na rebisahin ang mekanismo kasama ang tatlong ahensiya ukol sa isinusulong niyang Batang Magaling Act. Layon ng Senate Bill 2022 na mapagtibay ang kolaborasyon sa pagitan ng DepEd, mga lokal na pamahalaan, academic communities, at industry partners para matugunan ang isyu ng “mismatch” ng K to 12 graduates at pangangailangan sa labor market.

“We can embed into the bill a mechanism for the three agencies to review the senior high school curriculum. We can make the review more cohesive and make meetings more frequent, so there is some output that will guide and educate us policymakers,” sabi ng namumuno sa Senate Committee on Basic Education.

Ipinunto niya ang nararanasang hirap ng senior high school graduates sa pagpasok sa kolehiyo.

Pagbabahagi pa ng senador na 80 porsiyento ng SH graduates ang hindi pa handa na pumasok sa kolehiyo.

Bukod pa dito aniya na hindi lahat ng kurso ng DepEd ay accredited ng TESDA kayat hirap ang mga kumuha ng Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL)  ng walang sertipikasyon.
