Pimentel sa Comelec: Be practical sa 2025 polls’ “wishlist”

Pinayuhan ni Senate Minority Leader Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III ang Commission on Elections (Comelec) na pag-isipan muli ang kanilang  “wish list” para sa  2025 automated elections.

Katuwiran ni Pimentel na ang anumang sobrang paggasta o paggasta sa mga hindi naman labis na kailangan ay maaring magpataas sa “price tag ” ng  2025 midterm elections.

Sa iprinisinta na “shopping list” ng Comelec, ayon kay Pimentel, ilan sa mga ito ay pagsasayang lamang ng pera ng taumbayan.

“It will only increase the elections’ price tag which, given our tight fiscal situation, we cannot afford. Let’s avoid unnecessary expenditures and make do with what we have to save on cost,” sabi ng senador.

Dagdag pa nito: “The Comelec might want to reconsider its ‘shopping list’ for the 2025 midterm elections on account of our growing budget deficit, tremendous debt burden, and high inflation. Ang bawat piso na nakapaloob sa proposal ng Comelec ay dagdag utang ng gobyerno na sa huli ay taumbayan ang magbabayad,.

Pagdidiin ni Pimentel kailangan maging praktikal sa panahon ngayon.

“Comelec must ensure that elections are conducted in a transparent and efficient but cost-effective manner,”  aniya.
