Balikatan live fire exercises sinaksihan ni Pangulong Marcos
Personal na sinaksihan ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. ang live-fire sea drills ng mga Filipino at Amerikanong sundalo bilang bahagi ng Balikatan Exercises sa San Antonio, Zambales.
Kabilang sa mga aktibidad ay ang pagpapalubog sa lumang barko ng Philippine Navy.
Ipinosisyon ang barko sa layong 12 nautical miles mula sa baybayan ng San Antonio.
Umaasa ang bansa na malaking pakinabang ito para sa mga Filipinong sundalo para mapalakas pa ang kooperasyon sa Amerika
Pagtatapos na rin ito sa field training ng Balikatan 2023 kung saan nasa 1,400 Marines, sundalo, sailors, airmen at Coast Guardsmen mula sa Pilipinas at Amerika ang lumahok sa Combined Joint Littoral Live Fire Exercise (CJLLFX).
Dito ipinamalas ang detecting, identifying, targeting at engaging sa pag target sa barko gamit ang ibat ibang uri ng ground at air-based weapons systems.
Kabilang sa ginamit sa bilateral weapons systems sa war games ang U.S. at Philippine artillery, High-Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS) at ang Avenger air defense systems.
Ginamit rin ang mga state-of-the-art combat aircrafts gaya ng AH-64 Apache attack helicopters, Philippine Air Force FA-50 Golden Eagle fighter-attack aircraft, F-16 Fighting Falcons, U.S. Marine F-35B Joint Strike Fighters, at ang U.S. Air Force Special Operations Command AC- 130 Spectre gunship.
Isa sa mga armas na ginamit sa U.S. arsenal ay ang HIMARS na isang ull-spectrum, combat-proven, all-weather, 24/7, lethal and responsive, wheeled precision strike weapons system.
Ang HIMARS ay isang C-130 air transportable wheeled launcher na nakalagay sa 5-ton Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles na ginagamit para sa Field Artillery Brigades.
Ang HIMARS na isang lethal, survivable and tactically mobile force ay may kakayahang magpaputok ng six Guided MLRS (GMLRS)/MLRS rockets o isang Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS).
Nasa 17,600 na Filipino at Amerikanong sundalo ang lumahok sa Balikatan o shoulder-to-shoulder exercise ngayong taon.
Ito na ang may pinakamalaking Balikatan exercise sa bansa.
Layunin nito na mapaigting ang kooperasyon at kapabilidad ng mga sundalo sa pagtugon sa anumang uri ng gulo at kalamidad.
Bukod sa live-fire exercise, kasama rin sa aktibidad ang maritime security, amphibious operations, urban and aviation operations, cyber defense, counterterrorism, at humanitarian assistance at disaster relief preparedness.
Kasama ng Pangulo sa panonood sa live-fire exercise sina AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Andres Centino, National Security Adviser Eduardo Año, Zambales 2nd District Rep. Doris Maniquiz at Zambales Governor Hermogenes Ebdane Jr.
Sa hanay ng Amerika, dumalo sina Ambassador of the US to the Philippines MaryKay Carlson, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for South and Southeast Asia Lindsey Ford, at US Exercise Director Lt. Gen. William Jurney.
Isa ang Pilipinas sa mahalagang kaalyado ng Amerika.
Matatandaang nilagdaan ang U.S.-Philippines Mutual Defense Treaty noong 1951.
Ito na ang pinakamantandang tratado ng Amerika sa Indo-Pacific region.
