DICT: Walang data breach, hacking sa government records

Walang data breach kundi data leak lamang ang nangyari sa employment portal ng Philippine National Police.

Sa pulong balitaan sa Malakanyang, sinabi ni Department of Information and Technology Secretary Ivan Uy na may seryosong liability ang PNP dahil sa naging kapabayaan nito.

“I just want to share some clarification dahil ang daming misinformation na lumalabas regarding the data leak from allegedly sa PNP. So it’s not a hack, it’s not a breach. There was no intrusion kumbaga into any government system. Ang nangyari, there was a cyber security researcher who was going and checking the web, checking everything and nagulat na lang siya na may isang site na andun ang mga information na didn’t seem to have adequate security features na nakalatag doon,” pahayag ni Uy.

Sabi ni Uy, hindi naman ninakaw ang mga impormasyon mula sa secured government database.

“So walang breach sa NBI database, walang breach sa BIR kais lumalabas kasi sa news reports na massive data breach daw of the different government agencies. Hindi po ‘yun accurate,” pahayag ni Uy.

Mistulang hindi kasi aniya nakakandado ang database kung kaya naging bukas ito.

Pakiusap ni Uy sa ibat ibang tanggapan ng pamahalaan, sumunod sa global standards sa IT syste para masiguro ang security, privacy at safety ng mga data na nakokolekta.
