Mataas na lider ng NPA, siyam na iba pa sumuko sa Butuan City
Napasuko ni Joint Task Force ng Eastern Mindanao Command (EastMinCom) ang mataas na pinuno ng New People’s Army (NPA) at siyam nitong kasama sa Butuan City.
Kinilala ni Lt. Gen. Greg Almerol ang sumukong lider ng mga rebelde na si Lino Namatdong alias Dahon, namumuno sa Headquarters Force New at Sub-Regional Committee 1, sa ilalim ng Northern Central Mindanao Regional Committee.
Isinuko nila ang 10 baril na kinabibilangan ng tatlong shotguns, dalawang Armalite rifles, dalawang M203 grenade launchers, isang AK-47 rifle, isang Carbine rifle at isang Garand rifle.
Ani Almerol ang pagbabalik-loob sa gobyerno ng 10 rebelde ay bunga ng pagpupursige sa mga rebelde na sumuko na lamang sa halip na magbuwis ng buhay sa mga operasyon ng militar.
“We are looking into the possibility that the surrender of Namatidong would induce more capitulation in the coming days, especially from his downline members. Thus, I urge those remnants of the CTG to yield peacefully just like your other comrades unless you want to follow those who have already died for a useless cause,” dagdag pa ni Almerol.
