Tax amnesty sa mga local water districts, ibinasura ni PNoy
Ibinasura ni Pangulong Benigno Aquino III ang panukalang batas na nag-aalis ng mga kondisyon para sa pagpapatawad ng mga hindi nabayarang income tax ng mga local water districts.
Ayon kay Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr., partikular na nai-veto ni Pangulong Aquino mula sa consolidated house bill 3675 at senate bill 2518 ang proof of financial incapacity na manggagaling sa Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) at ang program of internal reforms na isinumite sa kongreso.
Sa mensahe aniya ng pangulo sa House Speaker at Senate President, ipinaliwanag na kaya niya ibinasura ang panukala ay dahil kontra ito sa intensyon ng Republic Act 10026 na pagbibigay lamang ng tax reprieve sa mga LWDs na walang kakayahang pinansyal pero desido na magpatupad ng fiscal reform.
Bukod dito, mali rin ang ibinibigay nitong mensahe dahil mistula itong nagsasabi na OK lang sa mga taxpayer na magpabaya sa pagbabayad ng buwis dahil mabibigyan din naman ito ng amnesty.
“In his message, President Aquino said the bill will remove the laudable intent of Republic Act 10026 which is to grant tax reprieve only to LWDs which are financially incapable and committed to instituting fiscal reforms,” ayon kay Ochoa.
Maituturing din umanong “disadvantageous” ang nasabing panukalang batas sa striktong tax collection efforts ng pamahalaan.
