Arestado ang isang traffic aide ng Metropolitan Manila Development Authority matapos mahuli sa entrapment operation na nangongotong sa Port Area, Manila.
Nakilala ang suspek na si MMDA Traffic Aide Rey Gaza, 53 anyos at kasalukuyang nakatalaga sa MMDA Northern Traffic Enforcement Division – Traffic Reaction Unit.
Naaresto si Gaza nang magsagawa ng entrapment operation ang Regional Special Operations Group (RSOG) ng National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) at MMDA Intelligence and Investigation Office (IIO).
Nag-ugat ang reklamo sa may-ari ng trucking company na nagsasagawa ng operasyon sa North Harbor at Valenzuela.
Ayon sa reklamo ng isang Salvador Jecino, humihingi ng payola si Gaza at mga kasamahan nito ng P10,000 kada buwan.
Taong 2019 pa aniya nagsimulang mangotong si Gaza.
Ayon kay MMDA acting chairman Atty. Don Artes, hindi kinukunsinti ng kanilang hanay ang pangongotong o panghihingi ng payola.
“The MMDA is serious in cleansing its rank. As a matter of fact, the agency is continuously cracking down against corrupt employees as part of its intensified cleansing program to weed out erring personnel,” pahayag ni Artes.
Mahaharap sa kasong robbery extortion at paglabag sa Republic Act 3019 o Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act si Gaza.
