Isyu ng nurses’ migration pinatutukan sa CHED ni Pangulong Marcos Jr.

Inatasan ni Pangulong Marcos Jr. ang Commission on Higher Education (CHED) na agad na tugunan ang kakulangan ng mga nurses sa bansa dahil sa migration.
Ginawa ng Pangulo ang pahayag sa pulong kahapon sa Malakanyang kasama ang mga opisyal ng Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC) Healthcare Sector group.
“We have to be clever about the healthcare manpower. Our nurses are the best, buong mundo na ang kalaban natin dito (referring to nurses migrating to other countries where pay is higher. Lahat ng nakakausap kong President, Prime Minister, ang hinihingi is more nurses from the Philippines,” dagdag ng Pangulo.
Bilang tugon, sinabi ni CHED Chairperson Prospero de Vera III na may ginagawa na silang hakbang para maparami ang mga nurse sa bansa.
Kabilang na ang retooling board non-passers, adopting nursing curriculum with exit credentials, redirecting non-practicing nurses at pagsasagawa ng exchange programs sa ibang bansa countries.
“Under the nursing curriculum with exit credentials, students could have several options: exit at the end of Level I or II, obtain the certificate or diploma in Nursing, or choose to continue and finish the four-year nursing program to become a registered nurse,” pahayag ni De Vera.
Inaayos na rin aniya ng CHED ang flexible short-term masteral program para matugunan ang kakulangan ng mga instructors sa nursing and medical schools.
Sinabi naman ni Department of Health (DOH) Officer-in-Charge Undersecretary Rosario Vergeire na pinag aaralan na ng kanilang hanay ang panukalang Magna Carta for Public Health Care Workers at Philippine Nursing Act.
