57 retirement age sa AFP officers, enlisted personnel lusot sa bicam meeting

Apat na oras na matinding diskusyon ang nangyari sa bicameral conference committee ukol sa pag-amyenda sa Republic Act 11709, na naglilimita sa three-year fixed term sa  Armed Forces of the
Philippines (AFP).

Sinabi ni  Sen. Jinggoy Ejercito Estrada, chairman ng Senate Committee on National Defense and Security, sinang-ayunan ng lahat na ang bersyon ng Senado ang gagawing “working draft” ng panukala.

Sa bersyon ng bicameral conference committee ng Senate Bill No. 1849 at House Bill No. 6517, nakasaad na 57 na ang retirement age sa mga opisyal at tauhan ng AFP.

“The increased retirement age is aligned with the intention of longer active duty to maximize training and education,” paliwanag ni Estrada.

Hindi na binago sa panukala ang three-year term sa AFP chief Of Staff, samantalang hanggang dalawang taon maaring manilbihan ang commanding generals ng  Philippine Army at Philippine Air Force at ng Flag Officer in Command ng Philippine Navy, gayundin ang Superintendent ng Philippine Military Academy (PMA).

Ngunit maari silang tanggalin o palitan ng pangulo ng bansa, na tumatayong commander-in-chief ng AFP.

Nadagdagan din sa panukala ang bilang ng mga aktibong heneral sa hukbong sandatahang-lakas at ibinasura na rin ang Section 11 ng RA 11709 o Forced Attrition of Enlisted Personnel.
