Nadiskubre at kinumpiska ng mga tauhan ng Bureau of Customs (BOC) Port of Subic ang 30 20-footer containers na naglalaman ng P86 milyong halaga ng smuggled sugar.
Isinagawa ang operasyon sa tulong ng BOC Intelligence Group (IG) sa pamumuno ni Deputy Comm. Juvymax Uy at Enforcement Group (EG) ni Deputy Comm. Teddy Sandy Raval, noong Marso 15.
Nabatid na nagmula sa Hong Kong ang mga asukal na idineklarang suwelas ng tsinelas at styrene butadiene rubber.
Isinagawa ang operasyon base sa mga natanggap na impormasyon ukol sa nilalaman ng containers at nang buksan ang mga ito ay nadiskubre ang 15,648 sako ng refined sugar kayat agad inirekomenda ang pagpapalabas ng warrant of seizure and detention sa mga naturang kargamento.
Nasaksihan ang pagkumpiska nina Port of Subic District Collector Maritess Martin, Department of Agriculture (DA) Asec. James Layug, at mga kinatawan mula sa Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA).
