Organized & collective action ang dapat sa pagkontrol sa oil spill – Binay

Nanawagan si Senator Nancy Binay ng pinag-isang aksyon para mapigilan pa ang paglala ng husto ng problema sa oil spill sa Oriental Mindoro.

Ang kanyang panawagan ay sa gobyerno at non-government organizations (NGOs) kasunod nang pagdinig ng  Senate Committee on Environment and Natural Resources sa pananagutan ng  RDC Reield Marine Services, abng may ari ng lumubog na MT Princess Empress.
 
“To think na ang Mindoro ang summer alternative sa Boracay, nakakalungkot din dahil maraming nag-cancel ng bookings ngayong Holy Week, at panibagong dagok na naman itong nangyari sa ating mga tourism workers na kababangon lang mula sa pandemic,” pahayag ni Binay.

Diin ng senadora napakahalaga ng panahon at dapat ay magtulungan ang gobyerno at NGOs para maagapan at hindi na lumala pa ang sitwasyon dahil libo-libong pamilya na ang apektado.

Dagdag pa aniya ang nakakabahalang posibilidad na umabot na sa Batangas at Palawan ang langis na mula sa lumubog na tanker.
 
“Aside from the fisherfolks, we can tap displaced tourism workers, community-based organizations, and those livelihoods were affected to help in the cleanup and in setting up barriers to mitigate the environmental impact and public health risks. Hindi lang ito localized na problema—SOS call na ito ,” pagpupunto ni Binay.
