Distressed OFW sa Saudi Arabia, bibigyan ng P10,000 na ayuda
Bibigyan ng tig P10,000 ayuda ang mga distressed Filipino workers sa Saudi Arabia.
Base na rin ito sa utos ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
Nilagdaan ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) at Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) ang isang Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) para gamitin ang pondo sa pang-ayuda sa mga Filipino workers.
Taong 2015 hanggang 2019 nang hindi makatanggap ang ilang Filipino workers sa Saudi Arabia matapos malugi ang pinagtatrabahuang kompanya.
“Bahagi ng development ay ang pag-aruga, pagkalinga sa mga migrant worker natin lalong lalo na ang mga pamilya nila dito sa Pilipinas na naiwan. Bahagi iyan ng mandato ng Ahensya at sisigurhunin naming makikipagtulungan kami sa DMW para ma-fulfill namin ang mandato na iyan… katabi nila kami sa pag-aruga sa mga migrant worker natin,” pahayag ni DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian.
“The President directed the DMW to extend its programs to OFW families, especially children. He also mentioned helping the claimants while talks are underway with the Saudi government regarding the workers’ unpaid back wages. We are grateful to have the DSWD as our partner on both fronts,” pahayag ni DMW Secretary Ople.
Base sa MOA, magbibigay ang DSWD ng P50 milyong pondo. Kukunin ang pondo sa Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program.
Ang DMW at OWWA na ang mamahagi ng ayuda.
“It is a great honor to be part of a great and formidable team to work for the [welfare of] OFWs,” pahayag ni OWWA Administrator Arnell Ignacio.
