Cebu Bus Rapid Transit pinatatapos sa deadline ni Pangulong Marcos Jr.
Pinatitiyak ni Pangulong Marcos Jr. sa Department of Transportation (DOtr) na matapos sa itinakdang panahon ang unang Cebu Bus Rapid Transit (CBRT) project sa Cebu City.
Ginawa ng Pangulo ang pahayag sa groundbreaking ceremony ng CBRT project, na ang layon ay magkaroon ng maayos at ligtas na transportasyon ang mga pasahero.
“Thank you for helping provide the Filipino with more efficient, reliable, comfortable and safer travel alternatives. There is no doubt that the fruits of your hard work will result in building modern and sustainable transit mechanisms that advance our citizenry’s quality of life,” aniya.
Apat na istasyon ang nakapaloob sa Package 1 ng proyekto na may 2.38-kilometer segregated bus lane, kasama na rito ang 1.15-kilometer pedestrian improvement na mag-uugnay sa CBRT System sa Port of Cebu.
Nabatid na inabot ng 20 taon ang Cebu BRT bago naging reyalidad. Nasa P1 bilyon ang inilaang pondo para sa Package 1 kung saan naka-award ang proyekto sa Chinese contractor Hunan Road at Bridge Construction Group Co.Ltd.
Ibinigay ang kontrata noong Nobyembre ng nakaraang taon.
Pinasalamatan din ng Pangulo ang World Bank at French Development Agency dahil sa pagiging active partners para magka totoo ang proyektong modern public transport systems sa bansa. Ang CBRT system ay may tatlong packages. Naka-desinyo ito na maa-accomodate ng 83 na 12-meter buses.
Sabi pa ng Pangulo, ginaya ng Pilipinas ang BRT systems sa Seoul sa South Korea at Guangzhou sa China.
“I trust it will also support economic development through travel time savings, environmental improvements, and reduction of accidents among residents and visitors of the city. As part of this endeavor, we will also pursue Urban Realm Enhancement projects for the beautification of the city along the BRT corridor. This will include the building of structures that promote non-motorized modes of travel, like walking and cycling,” dagdag ng Pangulo.
Pinatitiyak din ng Pangulo sa DOTr na siguruhin na mabibigyan ng relokasyon at kompensasyon ang mga informal settlers na matatamaan ng proyekto.
