Sinang-ayunan ni Senate Minority Leader Aquilino Pimentel III ang pahayag ni Pangulong Marcos Jr., na papasok sa bansa ang mga dayuhang mamumuhunan kahit hindi amyendahan ang 1987 Constitution. Kasabay nito, sinabi din ni Pimentel na darating ang panahon na kailangan na suriin ang ‘political provisions’ ng Konstitusyon para pagbutihin ang sistemang pamamahala sa bansa.
“The President is correct to say that there are better things that need to be done first and that we can generate foreign investments without amending the Constitution,” aniya.
Dagdag pa niya: “The proposal to change the economic provisions of the Constitution is not urgent at all as we have passed some economic liberalization laws,” Pimentel said, citing the Public Service Act, the Retail Trade Liberalization Act, and the Foreign Investment Act, among others.”
Diin pa ng senador maraming mahahalagang isyu na nangangailangan ng agarang aksyon ng gobyerno kaysa pagtuunan ng pansin ang Charter change o Cha-cha.
“We should maximize the implementation of these economic laws first. Let us instead work as hard in getting closer to our collective dream of every Filipino enjoying a strongly rooted, comfortable, and secure life,” paghihimok pa ni Pimentel.
