DTI pinakikilos ni Sen. Joel Villanueva laban sa ‘attractive vape products’

Hiniling ni Senate Majority Leader Joel Villanueva sa  Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) at iba pang kinauukulang ahensiya na kumilos kaugnay sa mga paglabag sa Republic Act (RA) No. 11900 o ang Vaporized Nicotine and Non-Nicotine Products Regulation Act.

Partikular na nais mapigilan ay ang distribusyon at pagbebenta ng vape products na paglabag sa naturang batas.

Sa pagdinig ng Senate  Committee on Sustainable Development Goals, Innovation and Futures Thinking, pinuna ng senador ang lantarang bentahan ng flavored vape products na kaakit-akit sa mga menor-de-edad.

Diin niya paglabag ito sa Section 12 ng RA 11900.

“We reiterate our call, madam chair, on the concerned government agencies, especially the DTI, to give us a clear and definitive answer in this proceedings as to why the proliferation of these prohibited products was allowed. We also like an immediate resolution of this issue pursuant to the provisions of the law, even as we await the recommendations of the committee,” apila ni Villanueva.

Isinagawa ng pagdinig matapos ang privilege speech ni Sen. Pia Cayetano kaugnay na rin sa pagkalat ng mga ‘flavored vape products.’

Pinamumunuan ni Cayetano ang naturang komite.
