Tokyo,Japan—Aabot sa 600 billion yen na public-private assistance ang ibibigay ng Japan sa Pilipinas sa Marso 2024.
Pahayag ito ni Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida sa bilateral meeting kay Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. sa Tokyo, Japan.
Hindi naman tinukoy ni Kishida kung anong mga proyekto ang paggagamitan ng pondo.
“First, regarding the economic cooperation, the economic development of the Philippines will be a big economic opportunities for both of our countries to support the Economic Development Plan of the Philippines to become upper-middle-income country and conveyed that by March 2024, public-private assistance of 600 billion yen will be provided. As a part of it, exchange of notes just took place on rail development,” pahayag ni Kishida.
Ayon kay Kishida, hahanapan nila ng paraan ni Pangulong Marcos na maitaguyod ang defense equipment at technology cooperation para mapalakas pa ang ugnayan ng Japan, Pilipinas at maging ng Amerika.
“During our working dinner after this, recognizing the severe and complex international situations, we plan to have an in-depth exchange of views on regional and international situations including our collaboration towards realizing a free and open Indo-Pacific,” pahayag ni Kishida.
Ayon kay Kishida, ang pagbisita ng Pangulo sa Japan ay pagpapalalim pa sa relasyon ng dalawang bansa lalo na sa bilateral partnerships.
Sa panig ni Pangulong Marcos, sinabi nito na mas matatag ngayon ang strategic partnership ng dalawang bansa habang tinatahak ang maalong tubig sa rehiyon.
“The future of our relationship remains full of promise, as we continue to deepen and expand our engagements across a wide range of mutually beneficial cooperation,” pahayag ng Pangulo.
“Finally, the Prime Minister and I have agreed to cooperate even more closely in areas of economic cooperation, security and defense cooperation, maritime security and safety, healthcare mechanisms, environmental commitments, and people-to-people exchanges. Furthermore, there are cultural cooperation, regional peace initiatives, and nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament, amongst others,” dagdag ng Pangulo.
