Pansamantalang itinigil ng Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) ang pagpo-proseso ng aplikasyon ng mga first-time Filipino domestic helpers na patungo ng Kuwait.
Ginawa ito ng DMW matapos ang karumal-dumal na sinapit ng overseas Filipino worker na si Jullebee Ranara sa kamay ng kanyang anak na Kuwaiti na employer.
Ayon kay DMW Secretary Susan Ople, tigil muna ang pagpo-proseso ng aplikasyon hangga’t walang magandang resulta ang bilateral talks sa pagitan ng Pilipinas at Kuwait.
Kinakailangan aniyang maghintay muna ng mga nagnanais na ppumasok na kasambahay sa Kuwait dahil kailangan na matiyak na may maayos na monitoring at mabilis na response system.
Nilinaw naman ni Ople na hindi ipatutupad ng DMW ang total deployment ban ng mga OFW sa Kuwait.
