Koko kinatigan rekomendasyon sa paglusaw sa Procurement Service ng Budget Department
Dahil sa magkasunod na kontrobersiyang kinasangkutan, sinang-ayunan ni Senate Minority Leader Aquilino ‘Koko’ Pimentel III ang rekomendasyon ng Senate Ble Ribbon Committee na buwagin na ang Procurement Service (PS) ng Department of Budget and Management (DBM). Inirekomenda ang paglusaw sa naturang opisina sa final committee report ng Blue Ribbon, na pinamumunuan ni Sen. Francis Tolentino, matapos ang serye ng pagdinig sa pagbili ng P2.4 bilyong halaga ng laptops ng Department of Education (DepEd). Binili ang sinasabing ‘overpriced and outdated’ laptops sa pamamagitan ng PS-DBM. Ang mga laptops ay dapat sa mga public school teachers para magamit sa pagkasa ng blended learning system. “May I know why it has taken this long for the executive branch to grant or pay attention to this call to abolish the PS-DBM? Is the PS-DBM a creation of law? Does it need a law to repeal that measure creating the PS-DBM or can the abolition of the PS-DBM be done by an executive order?” tanong ni Pimentel. Sinabi ni Tolentino na ang naturang tanggapan ay itinatag sa pamamagitan ng batas. Ayon naman kay Pimentel, base sa kanyang pagsasaliksik, ang PS-DBM ay nabuo sa pamamagitan ng letter of instruction ng yumaong Pangulong Marcos.
