Pagbasura sa P130M forfeiture case vs ex-CJ Corona pinagtibay ng Sandiganbayan

Pinagtibay na ng  Sandiganbayan 2nd Division ang  naunang pagbasura sa ₱130-million forfeiture case laban sa yumaong dating Chief Justice Renato Corona at sa kanyang maybahay na si  Cristina.

Kasunod na rin ito nang hindi na pag-apila pa ng gobyerno sa naunang desisyon.

Base sa apat na pahinang resolusyon na may petsang Enero 30, pinagbigyan na ng anti-graft court ang omnibus motion para sa certificate of finality.

Bunga nito, binawi na ang kautusan na pagkumpiska sa mga ari-arian ng yumanong punong mahistrado.

“Considering the finality of judgement in the instant case, it has now become a ministerial duty of the Court to issue a Certificate of Finality and to cause its entry of the same to the Books of Judgments,”  ani Associate Justice Arthur Malabaguio.

Sinang-ayunan naman ito nina  Associate Justices Oscar Herrera Jr. at  Edgardo Caldona.

Magugunita na noong Nobyembre 3, ng nakaraan taon, ibinasura na ng Sandiganbayan ang petisyon ng Office of the Ombudaman para sa pagkumpiska ng mga ari-arian ni Corona.

Katuwiran ng korte, hindi maituturing na ilegal na yaman ang mga ari-arian ni Corona dahil lamang sa ‘non declarations or misdeclarations’ sa Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN(.
