Sen. Grace Poe pinamamadali sa telcos ang SIM registration
Hiniling ni Senator Grace Poe sa mga telecommunications companies na bilisan pa ang pag-proseso ng subscriber identity module (SIM) registration.
Ayon kay Poe, ‘on track’ pa naman ang telcos sa kanilang SIM registration sa bilang na 22,298,020 hanggang noong Enero 18 ngunit ito ay 13.2 porsiyento pa lamang ng 168 milyong SIM holders.
Aniya kinakailangan na kada buwan ay makapg-proses ang telcos ng 48 milyong registration para umabot sa deadline sa Abril.
“Given this figure, are the telcos on track with its target schedule and number of registrants?” ani Poe, ang author at sponsor ng Republic Act No. 11934 o ang SIM Registration Act.
“There should be no room for laxity. Telcos should act as if they are always racing against time because the number of subscribers that must sign up is enormous,” dagdag pa niya.
Umaasa lang si Poe na may mga paraan pa ang telcos para mapabilis ng husto ang pagpaparehistro ng SIM kasama na dito ang tulong sa mga wala o hirap sa internet connectivity lalo na sa mga malalayong lugar.
Dapat aniya ay may koordinasyon ang telcos sa mga lokal na pamahalaan at iba pang kinauukulang ahensiya.
“We have to help our people not just register their SIM, but register early. There’s no doubt they are eager to do their part in realizing the full potential of the SIM Registration law,” sabi pa ng namumuno sa Senate Committee on Public Services.
