Dating aide ni Enrile nakakuha ng habeas corpus mula sa SC, nakalaya
Nakalabas ng Taguig City Jail si Jessica Lucila ‘Gigi’ Reyes, dating aide ni Presidential Legal Counsel Juan Ponce Enrile, kahapon. base sa kumpirmasyon mula sa Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP).
Pansamantalang nakalaya si Reyes matapos pagbigyan ng Korte Suprema ang kanyang hiling na mabigyan ng writ of habeas corpus.
Halos siyam na taon na nakulong si Reyes dahil sa kaso kaugnay sa pork barrel scam.
Ikinatuwiran ni Reyes na nalalabag na ang kanyang karapatan para sa mabilis na paglilitis dahil sa mga pagkakaantala sa kanyang paglilitis.
Sa desisyon noong Enero 17, kinatigan ng Korte Suprema ang katuwiran ni Reyes.
“While the writ is generally not available to a person whose liberty is under custody of an officer under process issued by a court or judge, when such custody becomes vexatious, capricious, and oppressive amounting to an infringement on the constitutional right to speedy trial of an accused, the writ of habeas corpus may be provisionally availed of,” ang mababasa sa resolusyon ng SC 1st Division.
Paglilinaw naman ng Korte Suprema walang epekto ang desisyon sa magiging hatol kay Reyes.
