Mosyon ni suspended BuCor chief Bantag ibinasura

Hindi napagbigyan ang hiling ni suspended Bureau of Corrections Director General Gerald Bantag  na bumitaw ang Department of Justice (DOJ) sa pag-iimbestiga sa pagpatay sa broadcaster na si Percival Mabasa alias Percy Lapid.

“No room for inhibition can be had in these cases,” ang mababasang bahagi ng 17-pahinang resolusyon.

Nabanggit din na hindi nalabag ang ‘right to due process’ ni Bantag.

Inihain ni Bantag ang mosyon noong Disyembre at aniya dapat ang Office of the Ombudsman ang mag-imbestiga sa kaso ng pagpatay kay Mabasa.

Sinabi na rin ni Justice Sec. Jesus Crispin Remulla na imposible na mapagbigyan ang nais ni Bantag

Kinumpirma ni DOJ spokesperson Mico Clavario ang nilalaman ng resolusyon.

“There was an MOA, a memorandum of agreement between the DOJ and the Ombudsman whereby if the crime is a normal crime and not one of those crimes described dun sa jurisdiction ng Sandiganbayan, it does lie with DOJ primarily,” paliwanag niya.
