Mataas na presyo ng sibuyas iimbestigahan sa Kamara
Naghain ang Makabayan Bloc para maimbestigahan sa Kamara ang mataas na presyo ng sibuyas.
Naniniwala ang mga mambabatas na may nangyayaring manipulasyon sa presyo ng sibuyas, na umabot na sa P800 kada kilo ang presyo.
“There are reasons to believe that there is an ongoing control and manipulation of onion prices from farmgate to market retail by big traders who store onions in cold storage warehouses,” ayon sa House Resolution No. 673.
Ang resolusyon ay inihain nina Gabriela Women’s Party Rep. Arlene Brosas, ACT Teachers Partylist Rep. France Castro, at Kabataan Partylist Rep. Raoul Manuel.
Anila ang presyo ng sibuyas ay higit pa sa P570, ang pinakamataas na daily minimum wage sa bansa.
Anila ang farmgate price ng sibuyas noong Nobyembre ay P25 hanggang P27 kada kilo lamang.
“Such huge discrepancy indicates potential price manipulation which makes onions more expensive. Aside from that, smuggling and over-importation of onions remain major problems, which also severely affect local supply and prices,” ayon pa sa tatlong mambabatas.
