Simula sa darating na Disyembre 27 ay kinakailangan nang irehistro ng lahat ng mobile phone users ang kanilang SIM o subscriber identification module cards.
Kasunod ito nang pagpapalabas ng National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) ng implementing rules and regulations (IRR) ng bagong RA 11934 o ang SIM Registration Act.
Sinabi ng NTC na may anim na buwan para irehistro ang ginagamit nilang SIM card o ito ay ma-deactivate at sila ay may limang araw na palugit para magparehistro ay ma-reactivate ang kanilang SIM card.
Hindi naman magagamit ang bagong SIM card hanggang hindi ito naipapa-rehistro.
Ang pagpaparehistro ay online at sa website ng telecommunication company ng subscriber.
Nakasaad din sa IRR na ‘highly confidential’ ang lahat ng detalye sa pagpaparehistro at hindi maaring ipaalam sa sinoman.
