Composting, sagot sa mataas na presyo ng abono – Villar
Makakatipid sa gastos sa abono ang mga magsasaka sa pamamagitan ng composting, ayon kay Senator Cynthia Villar.
Binanggit nito na mula sa P934 average noong 2019 nasa P2,134.64 ngayon taon na ang halaga ng abono.
“With the country’s dependence on imported fertilizers, the current global demand greatly affects the entry of fertilizer imports in our country. This caused limited local fertilizer supply that influenced the escalation of local prices,” pahayag ni Villar sa Bureau of Soils and Water Management (BSWM) kasabay ng pagselebra ng World Soil Day 2022 noong Disyembre 5.
Naibahagi ng namumuno sa Senate Committee on Agriculture, sa Las Piñas City sinimulan niya ang kanyang composting project noong 2022 para makatipid ng P300 milyon ang lokal na pamahalaan kada taon sa pamamagitan ng recycling ng mga basura at nagawa nila ang mga ito na maging organic fertilizer.
Sa ngayon, ang Villar SIPAG ay nakapagtayo na ng 118 composting facilities.
Sinabi nito na nakakatulong ang composting para mapalago ang organic farming sa bansa at ang mga pangunahing benepisaryo ay magsasaka.
“The project touches the lives of many vegetable enthusiasts interested in home gardening, the farmers and private individuals for they can avail free organic fertilizer together with vegetable seeds for their farms or backyard garden,” sabi pa ni Villar, na pinamumunuan din ang Senate Committee on Environment qnd Natural Resources.
Kamakailan lamang, nakuha ng VIllar SIPAG’s Las Piñas Kitchen Wastes Composting Project ang Energy Globe Award matapos kilalanin bilang isa sa “World’s Best Environmental Projects.”
