Ilang senador pag-aaralan ang itinutulak na Maharlika Investment Act
Isang grupo ng mga senador ang bubusisi sa isinusulong sa Mababang Kapulungan na Maharlika Investment Act, ayon kay Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri. Ani Zubiri pakikiusapan niya sina Sens. Sonny Angara, Sherwin Gatchalian, Grace Poe, Mark Villar at Alan Peter Cayetano na pag-aralan mabuti ang panukala. Si Angara ang namumuno sa Senate Committee on Finance, si Gatchalian sa Committee on Ways and Means, Poe sa Banks and Financial Institutions, at Cayetano sa Government Owned and Controlled Corps. “We must first ensure the sovereign wealth fund is necessary and if so, we need to ensure that it is managed properly and the safeguards are in place so that it would not be misused or prone to corruption,” ani Zubiri. Ayon naman kay Sen. Francis Escudero hindi siya kontra sa panukala dahil ginawa na ito ng ibang gobyerno. Aniya pag-aaralan niya ng husto ang panukala para hindi maiwasan ang mga pagkakamali ng ibang bansa. Marami naman katanungan sa panukala na kailangan malinaw na masagot ayon kay Senate Minority Leader Koko Pimentel, kasama na ang paghuhugutan ng paunang pondo at sino ang mamamahala nito. “It must be ours meaning belonging to the Filipino people as a collective,” sabi pa ni Pimentel.
