Letter of Agreement sa pagitan ng CCC at UPRI pinagtibay
Muling pinagtibay ng Climate Change Commission (CCC) at University of the Philippines Resilience Institute (UPRI) ang partnership sa climate resilience sa bansa.
Ayon kay CCC Vice Chairperson at Executive Director Robert Borje, layunin ng partnership na makabuo ng kasangkapan para masuportahan ang local government units na mapaigting ang science-based planning at climate and disaster risk assessments (CDRA).
“The signing of the Letter of Agreement between the CCC and the UPRI is a reaffirmation of the strong collaboration between the government and the academe in ensuring that climate change is understood, it’s devastating impacts addressed, and providing concrete recommendations for LGUs to be better capacitated,” pahayag ni Borje.
Sinabi naman ni UP President Atty. Danilo Concepcion na ang naturang kasunduan ay magbibigay oportunidad na mapaghandaan ng mamayan ang ano mang uro ng banta sa kalamidad.
“The signing of today’s Letter of Agreement marks the renewal of long-standing commitments to provide Filipinos [an] access to information that can spell the difference between life and death during times of crisis by working towards the formulation of analytics and science-based probabilistic risk assessment,” pahayag ni Concepcion.
“This collaboration with the Climate Change Commission will better prepare our countrymen to build with and respond to the hazards they face in their neighborhoods and the surrounding communities,” dagdag ni Concepcion.
Sinabi naman ni UPRI Executive Director at Professor Alfredo Mahar Francisco Lagmay na kailangang mag-plano para makaiwas sa sakuna.
“We need to plan in advance because that is the best early action. When we do that, we may stand a better chance of survival, we may better approach our problem, we plan so we become more resilient against the adverse impacts of climate change. The intent is to have a science-based approach and a whole of society approach,” pahayag ni Lagmay.
