Patuloy na sumasailalim sa negosasyon at ebolusyon ang Mutual Defense Treaty sa pagitan ng Pilipinas at Amerika.
Ito ang sinabi Pangulong Marcos Jr., at aniya sumasaialim din ngayon sa masusing pag-aaral ang proposals at requests ng Amerika na Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA).
“Well, the Mutual Defense Treaty is continuously under negotiation and under evolution. I always call it it’s an evolution because things are changing. The request — there have been many requests and proposals from the Americans, especially under EDCA. So all of that is under study now to see what is really feasible and what will be the most useful for the defense of Philippine territory,” pahayag ng Pangulo.
Sinabi pa nito na lahat ng mga usapin sa MDT at EDCA na may kinalaman sa seguridad at defense ay kanyang tinalakay nang bumisita kamakailan saa bansa si US Vice President Kamala Harris.
Tinalakay din aniya nila ni Harris ang joint exercises, ang paggamit ng mga bases at iba pa.
“Palagay ko, by early next year, we will have something more concrete to tell you,” pahayag pa ng Pangulo.
