Ex-Energy Sec. Cusi ipinaaresto, nagpiyansa sa cyberlibel case na isinampa ni Sen. Gatchalian

Nakitaan ng sapat na merito ng isang korte sa Valenzuela City ang nilalaman ng reklamong cyber libel na inihain ni Senator Sherwin Gatchalian laban kay dating Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi.
Kayat nagpalabas nitong Nobyembre 21 nagpalabas ang Valenzuela RTC Branch 75 ng electronic warrant of arrest at Nobyembre 25 nang humarap si Cusi sa korte para mag-piyansa ng P10,000.
Nag-ugat ang reklamo ni Gatchalian kay Cusi sa artikulo na lumabas sa website ng Department of Energy (DOE) noong nakaraang Pebrero 4, na ayon sa senador ay ipinalabas na siya ay sinungaling, manloloko at abusado sa kapangyarihan.
Kinatigan naman ito ng Valenzuela City Prosecutor’s Office at sa 20-pahinang resolusyon ni Sr. Asst, City Prosecutor Rudy Ricamora ibinasura nito ang argumento ni Cusi na binatikos lamang niya ang isinagawang pagdinig ng Senado.
Magugunita na inimbestigahan ng Senate Committee on Energy, na noon ay pinamumunuan ni Gatchalian, ang pagbebenta ng 45% participating interest ng Chevron Phils sa Chevron Malampaya sa UC Malampaya, na dating pag-aari ng negosyanteng si Dennis Uy.
Sa naging rekomendasyon ng komite, pinasasampahan sa Ombudsman at Civil Service Commission ng mga kasong kriminal at administratibo si Cusi at iba pang opisyal ng kagawaran.
“A conjoint reading of the statement posted on the DOE website certainly ascribes no other meaning than dishonesty, fraud, and abuse of power on the part of Gatchalian. Gatchalian was pictured to be dishonest because he favored people who have adversarial business interest when he is supposed to be forthright and impartial during the proceedings,” ang mababasa sa resolusyon ni Ricamora.
Dagdag pa ni Ricamora;“No amount of sophistical explanation can hide, much less erase, the negative impression already created in the minds of the readers of the libelous material towards Gatchalian. They are indisputably defamatory for they impute upon Gatchalian a condition that is dishonorable and shameful.”
