Pagiging Senate president ni Pimentel, kinumpirma ni Drilon
Kinumpirma ni outgoing Senate President Franklin Drilon na si Senator Aquilino Pimentel III na ang papalit sa kaniya sa pwesto bilang pinuno ng senado.
Ayon kay Drilon, siya at ang mga kapwa senador ay nagpulong kagabi para pagaksunduan ang pagsuporta kay Pimentel bilang bagong senate presidente.
Si Pimentel ay presidente ng Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) na partido ni President-elect Rodrigo Duterte.
Ayon kay Drilon, nasa 16 hanggang 17 silang senador sa kaniyang grupo.
Dagdag pa ni Drilon sa isang forum na idinaos sa Maynila, siya ang magsisilbing Senate Pro-Tempore at si Senator Tito Sotto naman ang magiging majority leader. “We have the support of 16 or 17 senators. Last night we met and had that agreement. The president of the incoming Senate will be Aquilino Pimentel. I will be the Senate Pro-Tempore and Sotto will be the majority leader,” ayon kaky Drilon.
Tiniyak din aniya ng mga senador ang suporta sa legislative agenda ni Duterte kasabay ng pagpapanatili sa independence ng senado.
