Pag-apruba sa Code of Conduct on the South China Sea, pinamamadali na ni Pangulong Marcos
Hinikayat ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos ang mga kapwa lider sa Association of Southeast Asian Nations na isapinal na ang Code of Conduct on the South China Sea.
Sa talumpati ng Pangulo sa ASEAN-China Summit sa Cambodia, sinabi nito na ito ay para mabigyan ng giya ang mga bansa at maiwasan ang gulo sa pinag-aagawang karagatan sa South China Sea.
“It shall be an example of how states manage their differences: through reason and through right. I, therefore, welcome the progress on textual negotiations on the COC this past year and hopefully an approved code of conduct in the very near future,” pahayag ng Pangulo.
Iginiit pa ng Pangulo na dapat na mapanatili ang United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), ang kasunduan na nagtatakda ng legal framework o universal framework sa mga aktibidad sa mga karagatan.
Bukod sa South China Sea, tinalakay rin ng Pangulo post pandemic recovery,regional at geopolitical issues.
Si Chinese Premier Li Keqiang ang nagsilbing kinatawan ng China sa naturang summit.
