Nanawagan si Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. sa mga kapwa lider na paigtingin pa ang ASEAN solidarity at centrality.
Ito ay para matugunan ang mga tungalian at mga hamon na kinakaharap ng rehiyon.
Ginawa ng Pangulo ang panawagan sa intervention sa 40th ASEAN Summit Plenary sa Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Ayon sa Pangulo, kailangan ang pagkakaisa ng ASEAN para maging responsive sa mga problema at mapalakas pa ang mekanismo sa community-building efforts.
“It is imperative that we reassert ASEAN Centrality. This in the face of geopolitical dynamics and tensions in the region and the proliferation of Indo-Pacific engagements, including the requests of our dialogue partners for closer partnerships,” pahayag ni Pangulong Marcos.
“ASEAN’s response to this is the forward-looking ASEAN outlook on the Indo-Pacific, with its essential element of ASEAN centrality in the implementation of ASEAN-led mechanisms, projects, and initiatives for our community building efforts,” dagdag ng Pangulo.
Sinabi pa ng Pangulo na ang pagpapalakas sa pagkakaisa ay malaking tulong din sa pagtugon sa mga hamon may kaugnayan sa natural disasters, health emergencies, armed conflicts, at economic recessions.
Kasabay nito, hinikayat ng Pangulo ang bansang Myanmar na sumunod sa mga ipinatutupad na five-point consensus na may kaugnayan sa peace situation.
Ito ay ang panawagan na tuldukan na ang gulo at magkaroon ng diyalogo sa pagitan ng militar at anti-coup movement sa Myanmar.
“We should enhance ASEAN food security cooperation through strengthened initiatives and expanded projects under the ASEAN Ministers of Agriculture and Forestry and other related mechanisms, including those with our dialogue partners,” pahayag ng Pangulo.
“We need to solidify our food resilience and promote food self-sufficiency, through the use of new agricultural technologies, in order to protect the region and our countries from shocks to the global food value chain, as well as against adverse effects of climate change,” dagdag ng Pangulo.
