‘Cinderella Man’ story posibleng dahilan kaya isinabit si ex-BuCor chief Gerard Bantag sa Lapid slay-case
Ibinunyag ni Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla na ang istoryang “Cinderella Man” ng napaslang na broadcaster na si Percy Lapid ang maaaring nag-udyok kay suspended Bureau of Corrections Director General Gerald Bantag na patayin ito.
Sa ambush interview sa anibersaryo ng National Bureau of Investigation sa Maynila, sinabi ni Remulla na malaking bagay ang hindi pagsipot ni Bantag sa graduation ng mga bilanggo ng University of Perpetual Help Delta noong Setyembre 9.
Ito kasi ang araw na nagtungo si Lapid sa Laguna para kunan ng litrato ang bahay at mga sasakyan ni Bantag.

“Si Percy Lapid nagpunta sa bahay niya sa Laguna. Iyo yung,, pagkatapos noon, lumabas ‘yung Cinderella Man ni Percy Lapid. That was the basis. That day itself, noong nalaman ni Bantag, ni Gen. Bantag na andun si Percy Lapid sa Laguna, medyo nagalit. Nawala na siya, he didn’t anymore went back to Bilibid. He went back to Laguna and then di na sya umattend ng graduation. It’s very significant because, graduation of the University of Perpetual Help, andoon lahat ng board of trustees niyan. They’re all present. Sa ngayon, wala pa naming natatanggap na feelers ang DOJ na susuko na si Bantag.
Bukod kay Bantag, sinampahan ng kasong murder si Senior Supt. Ricardo Zulueta na idinadawit din sa kaso.
Hamon ni Remulla kay Bantag, huwag nang mag-drama sa harap ng media at sumagot sa pamamagitan ng affidafit.
“Wala pa. Wala pa. Ang ano ko lang sa kanila, sana, sumagot sila ng counteraffidavit, huwag sila sa media sasagot. Magcounteraffidavit sila. Yan ang proseso ng batas natin e. Igalang nila ang batas. Alagad sila ng batas tapos ganyan sila magsalita di ba? Walang drama-drama. Face it like a man. Kung di ka lalaki, di…If you cannot face it, then what are you? Face it. Ang dami-daming drama eh,” pahayag ni Remulla.
Naniniwala si Remulla na nasa bansa pa naman sina Bantag at Zulueta.
“I would say so, remember they are government officials, hindi ka pwedeng pedeng umalis ng Pilipinas kapag wala kang travel authority unless they have secured passports which do not reflect their true professions,” pahayag ni Remulla.
