Pinatawan ng P5.1 milyong multa ng Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) ang National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) dahil sa hindi pagsunod sa utos ng Department of Energy (DOE).
Ang multa ay bunga ng hindi pagsunod ng NGCP sa DOE circular ukol sa pagbili ng ‘reserves’ o ang ‘Prescribing the Policy for the Transparent and Efficient Procurement of Ancillary Services by the System Operator’ (AS-CSP Policy).
Layon nito na mas maging malinaw at pantay ang pagkakataon para sa lahat ng kuwalipikadong pasilidad sa ‘bidding.’
Inamin ng NGCP ang hindi pagsunod sa isang bahagi ng polisiya sa katuwiran na sa kanilang naging palagay ay wala na itong bisa.
Binalaan din ng ERC ang NGCP ang hindi pagsunod sa mga batas, regulasyon at polisiya ay maaring magresulta sa pagkansela sa kanilang Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity, gayundin sa maaring irekomenda sa Kongreso na kanselahin ang kanilang prangkisa.
