‘Cold facility’ ng DA sa Subic pinagdududahan ni Sen. Imee Marcos

Para kay Senator Imee Marcos may sablay sa pagpili ng Department of Agriculture sa Subic, Zambales para sa itatayong kauna-unahang ‘cold examination facility’ para sa mga imported agricultural products.

Pangamba ni Marcos mas kakalat ang African swine fever (ASF) kung hindi sa Metro Manila ang ‘border inspections’ dahil mayorya ng mga inaangkat na karne ay ibinabagsak sa Maynila.

“What’s cooking in Subic, that imported meat and crops must be diverted away from Manila? Ini-import na natin lahat ng pagkain. Pati ba naman sakit?” ang pagtatanong ng senadora.

Nangangamba din ito na mas tataas nag presyo ng mga imported na karne kung sa Subic ipapasok ang mga ito dahil sa karagdagang gastos sa transportasyon.

Diumano sina dating Agricultre Sec. William Dar at Bureau of Animal Industry Dir. Reildrin Morales ang nagtulak para maipatayo sa Subic o Cebu ang pasilidad bagamat may lokasyon sa South Harbor sa Maynila.

“It’s been nine years since the Food Safety Act became law, but first-border inspections have not been properly enforced. The facility’s location is key to achieving food safety and security,” sabi pa ni Marcos.
