Health advocates hiniling ang ganap na pagkasa ng Mental Health Act

Naniniwala ng mga health advocates na marami pa ang dapat gawin sa pagpapatupad ng Mental Health Act, bukod sa pagpapataas sa pondo sa mental health services.

“Among them is the more concrete and stricter implementation of Mental Health Act, which could help many Filipinos deal with various mental health issues,” ani Alyannah Lagasca, national chairperson ng Youth for Mental Health Condition (Y4MHC).

Dagdag pa ni Lagasca dapat din ay mas agresibo ang Department of Health (DOH) sa promosyon sa mga inaalok na serbisyo para sa mga tao na may isyu sa pag-iisip.

“In the course of promotions, we should also highlight that Mental health is also as important as physical health. We all know if someone is sick, regardless kung physical or mental health iyon, hindi siya productive. There goes all the socio-economic problems,” dagdag pa nito.

Nagpahayag naman ng pagkadismaya si Ralph Degollacion, ng Healthy Philippines Alliance (HPA), dahil sa kapos na pagpapakalat ng impormasyon sa bahagi ng gobyerno ukol sa mental health.

Dapat aniya marami pang lokal na pamahalaan ang may mental health services at programa.

Sa susunod na taon, naglaan ang administrasyong-Marcos Jr., ng P2.1 bilyon para sa mental health programs ng DOH mas mataas sa P568.04 milyon sa huling taon ng administrasyong-Duterte.
