Nagsagawa ng spot check ang Bureau of Customs sa Port of Davao sa dalawang containers na may laman na tig 500 sako ng pulang sibuyas.
Ayon kay BOC Davao District Collector Erastus Sandino Austria, galing ang kargamento sa Nueva Ecija at ibiyahe sa Port of Manila at dumating sa KTC Container Terminal saa Port of Davao.
Wala namang nakitang violations ang BOC matapos makapag-presenta ang consignee ng mga kaukulang transport documents gaya ng Clearance for Domestic Transport na inisyu ng Bureau of Plant Industry, proofs of payment mula sa local supplier, at acknowledgment receipts mula sa ibat-ibang warehouses.
Tiniyak pa ni Austria na paiigtingin pa ng BOC ang pag-iinspeksyun sa mga daungan para malabanan ang agricultural smuggling.
Pagtalima na rin ito ayon kay Austria sa 7-point priority program ni Commissioner Yogi Filemon Ruiz at utos ni Pangulong Ferdinand Maros, Jr. na labanan ang agricultural smuggling.
