P228M halaga ng smuggled sugar natimbog ng Customs Bureau
Kinumpiska ng Bureau of Customs (BOC) ang higit P228 milyong halaga ng imported sugar sa loob ng International Container Terminal Services Inc. – Manila International Container Terminal sa Maynila.
Sinabi ni acting Customs Comm. Yogi Ruiz ang puslit na refined sugar ay nagmula sa Thailan at dumating sa bansa noong Setyembre 24 sakay ng 76 container vans.
Bago ang pagkumpiska, may humiling sa Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service ng kahilingan na maamyendaha ang manipesto at mapalitan ang pangalan ng consignee noonf Oktubre 10.
Ibinasura ito ng CIIS matapos may hirit ng pagpapalabas ng alert order na may petsa naman na Oktubre 4.
Sinabi ni Ruiz na sinusubukan ng smugglers ang lahat ng paraan para mailabas ang mga puslit na kargamento at maapektuhan ang presyo ng mga bilihin, gayundin ang lokal na produksyon at ang epekto sa mga manggawa at konsyumer.
