Sen. Risa Hontiveros pinamamadali sa gobyerno ang renewable energy projects
Hinikayat ni Senator Risa Hontiveros ang gobyerno na madaliin ang pagkasa ng renewable energy projects para maibsan ang epekto ng mataas na halaga ng langis sa pandaigdigang-pamilihan.
Ginawa ni Hontiveros ang panawagan matapos ianunsiyo ng mga kompaniya ng langis ang pagtaas ng presyo ng kanilang mga produktong-petrolyo dahil sa pagbabawas sa produksyon sa langis ng mga miyembro ng Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).
“The present situation only shows how vulnerable our nation is to oil price shocks. If nothing is changed, we will always be at the mercy of the market and its most influential players. Hindi pwedeng price monitoring lang ang aksyon ng pamahalaan. Kailangan nating madaliin ang pag-rollout ng renewable energy projects na pakikinabangan ng ating mga kababayan,” ayon sa senadora.
Aniya kailangan na mamuhunan ang gobyerno sa renewable energy projects gaya ng solar, offshore wind, small and medium hydroelectric at geothermal.
Diin ni Hontiveros maging ang Department of Energy (DOE) ay nagsabi na kailangan ng magkaroon ng reporma para bumuhos ang pamumuhunan sa renewable energy projects and technologies.
