Upang magsilbing ehemplo, hinimok si Pangulong Marcos Jr., ni Senate Minority Leader Aquilino ‘Koko’ Pimentel III na bawasan ang confidential at intelligence funds (CIFs) ng Office of the President.
“Sayang. It could have been a good gesture or a symbolic act on the part of the President if he had lowered the confidential and intelligence funds allocated to his office,” hirit ni Pimentel.
Sinabi ito ng senador sa pagdinig sa P9 billion 2023 budget ng Office of the President.
Dagdag pa ni Pimentel kung pinatapyasan lamang sana ng Punong Ehekutibo ang kanyang CIFs magagamit pa ito sa pagtutulak ng ‘fiscal discipline’ sa gobyerno.
Maari aniya na magamit ang pondo para madagdagan ang budget sa pagpapatayo ng mga classrooms, pagkuha ng mga karagdagang medical workers at social welfare programs.
Paalala lang din ni Pimentel na ang 2023 National Expenditure Program (NEP) ay hindi alinsunod sa mga itinakdang mithiin ng 2022-2028 medium-term fiscal framework.
