Gatchalian: P100M budget cut sa Sports Academy malaking dagok sa student athletes
Lubos na nakakapanghinayang para kay Senator Sherwin Gatchalian kung matutuloy ang pagbawas ng higit P100 milyon sa pondo ng National Academy of Sports (NAS).
Ayon kay Gatchalian lubhang maapektuhan ang panghihikayat ng mga student-athletes.
Paalala niya, ang NAS ang nagiging daan sa paghubog ng kahusayan at talento ng mga batang-atleta sa mga pasilidad na maituturing na ‘world class.’
Nalaman ang balak na pagtapyas sa pondo ng NAS sa pagdinig sa 2023 budget ng Department of Education.
“I know that NAS is trying to grow itself and attract more students. But of course, the cut will not enable the academy to attract students, especially from the countryside,” sabi pa ng namumuno sa Senate Committee on Basic Education.
Si Gatchalian ang co-author at sponsor ng RA 11470 na nagtatag sa NAS System.
